(STREAMWOOD, IL) – Patients from the Streamwood area in need of dialysis treatment now
have access to quality care close to home, thanks to a new 13-station RenalPro Health facility
at 149 Irving Park Road. Village officials, area hospital leaders, patients and physicians
gathered today to mark the opening of the state-of-the-art facility, which is the first dialysis
center in Streamwood.
For patients like Tom Pullia, a Streamwood resident, access to quality and convenient dialysis
care will have a profound impact on his health and quality of life.
“For me and my family, the RenalPro Health Streamwood facility is going to make a world
of difference,” Pullia said. “I now have peace of mind knowing I have a treatment
center close to home so I don’t have to spend all my time and energy traveling to and from
dialysis. Instead, I can focus on doing the things I enjoy like spending time with my family and
friends.”
In addition to a convenient location, patients will have access to an entire team of dedicated
professionals including dieticians, social workers, and nurses who will provide patients and
their families with the support and resources they need to stay on a healthy path during
treatment. The new center also comes equipped with massage chairs and individual DVD players at
each station to ensure a comfortable and relaxing experience.
Dr. Gordon Lang, a nephrologist who has been treating patients in the area for more than 30
years, will serve as the facility’s Medical Director. “I am so proud to work with
RenalPro Health to raise the standard of care for patients in the Streamwood area and beyond,”
said Dr. Lang. “This new dialysis center was built on the belief that patients always come
first and we are committed to improving the quality of life for every person that walks through
our door. Nothing is more important to us than the health and well-being of our patients.”
The Streamwood facility will help meet the rising demand for dialysis services in suburban Cook
County. For example, the number of people diagnosed with diabetes, which is one of the leading
causes of kidney failure, is expected to increase by nearly 50 percent by 2025, according to the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The U.S. Renal Streamwood facility was approved by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services
Review Board last year and received widespread support from Streamwood Village President Billie
Roth, St. Alexius Medical Center, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital and numerous area physicians and
patients.
The facility is RenalPro Health’s first dialysis center in Illinois, with two more
scheduled to open this fall – one at 396 Remington Blvd in Bolingbrook and one at 1201-B
Butterfield Road in the Oak Brook/ Downers Grove area.
