New Adel Dialysis Center Provides Area Patients With Access to Life-Saving Care
12/03/2012
(ADEL, GEORGIA) – Patients from the Cook County area in need of dialysis treatment now have greater access to quality care, thanks to a new 21-station U.S. Renal Care facility at 701 North Hutchinson Avenue in Adel. City officials, area hospital leaders, patients and physicians gathered today to mark the opening of the facility.
“This is a great opportunity for patients like me to experience even more of what U.S. Renal Care has to offer, like access to the very best treatment and technology—all in a comforting environment close to home,” said Nashville resident Margaret Foster. “Knowing how much they care gives me the peace of mind to focus on the more important things in life.”
The new center replaces the U.S. Renal Care facility at 203 Robinson Street, less than a half-mile away from the new location. The Hutchinson Avenue center represents U.S. Renal Care’s commitment to continually raising the standard of care for patients across the country. Here, patients will have access to an entire team of dedicated professionals including dieticians, social workers, and nurses who will provide patients and their families with the support and resources they need to stay on a healthy path during treatment.
Dr. Arunas Urbonas, a nephrologist who has been treating patients in the area for nearly a decade, will serve as the facility’s Medical Director. “At U.S. Renal Care our top priority is providing the best care possible to area patients.” said Dr. Urbonas. “This new facility will be easily accessible, conveniently located, and will offer a compassionate support team to provide patients with the critical care they need.”
The Adel facility will help meet the rising demand for dialysis services in the Cook County area. For example, the number of people diagnosed with diabetes, which is one of the leading causes of kidney failure, has risen 145% in Georgia since 1995, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Beyond offering world-class care, the U.S. Renal Care clinic in Adel is the first “green” clinic in Southeast Georgia. The center was constructed with environmentally friendly materials aimed at increasing energy efficiency while reducing carbon emissions. Solar panels on the facility’s roof will provide 60% of the required energy needed to power the clinic.
