The Institute, located 15 miles northeast of Philadelphia, is DSI’s first hospital that meets the needs of patients seeking comprehensive breast care and plastic surgery.

It is built on a beautiful 15-acre campus in Bensalem, Pennsylvania and houses both a single-story hospital and an adjacent medical office building.

The hospital contains 24 patient rooms and 6 state of the art operating rooms with associated recovery rooms to maximize patient care and privacy, post operatively.

The radiology suite contains digital mammography, CT scan, Ultrasound, MRI, X-ray, Fluoroscopy, limited Nuclear Medicine and an IMRT linear accelerator that is housed in a radiation-safe concrete vault for external beam radiation therapy used to treat certain types of cancer, including breast cancer.

The facility focuses primarily on breast cancer, plastic and reconstructive surgery. However, the facility, which is a general hospital, is capable of handling most major medical problems, including a biologic terror attack.

The patient rooms are large enough to serve as intensive care rooms, and are equipped in such a manner that they can be used for immediate post-operative care or intensive care as needed. The Institute is built, equipped and staffed to bring together the latest technology and the best healing modalities for patients with breast disease.

Breast surgeon Dr. Beth DuPree is serving as CEO of the hospital and Medical Director of the Comprehensive Breast Center (See Below).

Plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Skalicky is serving as Medical Director of the Aesthetic Center.

Beth Baughman DuPree, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Beth DuPree's impressive credentials do not capture the humanitarian spirit with which she treats her patients, friends, and acquaintances.

Dr. DuPree, a general surgeon who is focusing her practice on breast cancer care, believes that using a holistic approach to healing a patient is extremely important. It is her position that marrying both holistic therapies with state-of-the-art, leading-edge technology can lead to better outcomes, even in people with life-threatening disease, such as cancer.

Dr. DuPree strongly urges her patients to get alternative healing support, whether it is through clinical psychological therapy, spiritual assistance, grief counseling, exercise programs, reflexology, nutritional counseling, Reiki, Yoga, or massage. In fact, she herself has participated in all and believes that "whatever it takes to help a person find healing and peace is the way to curing them."

This vibrant, witty mother of two sons, whose skin-sparing mastectomies with plastic surgeon Robert Skalicky, D.O., were featured live on the Internet in October 1999, has won numerous awards for her medical work as well as her humanitarian endeavors. The above mentioned Web cast and subsequent television documentary received a coveted Gracie Allen Award in New York City in April 2000. Additionally, Dr. DuPree was given the Clara Barton Humanitarian Award from the American Red Cross for her on-going contributions to the treatment of breast cancer in 2002, the Visions of Hope Award in December 2002, the Northampton Township Citizen of the Month in February 2003, and the Women Pioneering the Future Award from the Pennsylvania Commission for Women in March 2003. She is on the advisory committee for Gilda's Club and the Young Survivor's Coalition for Young Breast Cancer Survivor.

Dr. DuPree, who received her medical degree from Hahnemann University in 1987, is presently writing a book titled The Healing Consciousness. She has been the keynote speaker at numerous conferences and seminars, primarily in addressing women's health issues.

She recently filmed a training seminar with Ethicon Breast Care to educate physicians on the use of the hand-held Mammotome for minimally invasive breast biopsy.

A native of York, Pennsylvania, Dr. DuPree lives in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with her husband Joe and their two sons. Dr. DuPree credits her accomplishments to her family's constant support.

Robert Skalicky, D.O.

Dr. Skalicky is a well-known and highly respected Board-Certified plastic surgeon in Buck’s County, having earned the respect of other Buck’s County physicians and of the community, along with the trust of his patients.

For nearly a decade, he along with Dr. Ben Lam, trained and taught many other plastic surgeons in the area.

Dr. Skalicky, who continually strives to put the patient’s mental and physical interests paramount, works with the breast surgeon to perform skin-sparing mastectomies.

Dr. Skalicky has a great deal of experience in post-mastectomy reconstructions, taking extreme attention to uniformity in all respects. Additionally, he is equally adept at both breast enhancement and reduction procedures, along with an entire range of plastic surgery procedures. His goal is always to have a natural, unoperated-on look.

Dr. Skalicky received his medical degree from Osteopathic Medical Center of Philadelphia, where he also performed his plastic surgery residency.

In addition, he performed a plastic surgery residency at Plastic Surgery Institute and Mercy Hospital Center in Des Moines, Iowa.  He is currently on staff at several hospitals and is Chairman of Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery Disciplines ACOS.
